On 11.11.11 a special day, 11 women who had conceived with IVF (Invitro fertilization-Test Tube Baby Treatment), at our 21st Century Hospital & Test Tube Baby Centre, Station Road, Surat, Gujarat, INDIA were delivered by elective caessarian section by Dr. Purnima Nadkarni, Dr. Pooja Nadkarni, Dr. Aditi Nadkarni & Dr. Kishore Nadkarni. In all 13 babies delivered from 11 mothers, 9 singleton pregnancies and 2 twins. This is the “World Record” for the date and all were test tube babies.

તા. ૧૭ અને ૧૮ સપ્ટેમ્બરના રોજ ટ્વેન્ટી ફર્સ્ટ સેન્ચ્યુરી હોસ્પિટલ્સ પ્રા. લિ.ની વાપી અને સુરત બ્રાંચમાં લેપ્રોસ્કોપી અને કેન્સર સર્જરીનો કેમ્પ મોટાપાયે યોજાઈ ગયો. ગેલેક્ષી કેર હોસ્પિટલ-પૂના સાથે સંકળાયેલા અને રોબોટીક સર્જરીના પ્રણેતા એવા પ્રખ્યાત લેપ્રોસ્કોપીક અને કેન્સર સર્જન ડો. શૈલેષ પુન્તાંબેકરને ખાસ આ માટે નિમંત્રવામાં આવ્યા હતા.

બન્ને હોસ્પિટલ મળીને ૨૦ જેટલા કેન્સરના ઓપરેશનો કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા. જેમાં અંડકોષ અને ગર્ભાશયના મુખનું કેન્સર, ગર્ભાશય દૂર કરવાનું, સ્વાદુપિંડની ગાંઠનું, પિત્તાશયનું, જઠર અને અન્નનળીનું તથા  વંધ્યત્વને લગતા કઠિન ઓપરેશનો જેવા કે એન્ડોમેટ્રિઓસિસ અને ગર્ભાશયની ગાંઠ વગેરે જેવા ઓપરેશનો સફળતાપૂર્વક કરવામાં આવ્યા.

થોડા કેસ વિગતે જોઈએ તો ૫૮ વર્ષની મહિલાના અંડાશયના કેન્સરનો છે જે ત્રીજા સ્ટેજ પર હતું અને કેમોથેરાપીને પણ રીસ્પોન્સ નહોતું કરતું અને રેક્ટમ સુધી કેન્સર ફેલાયેલું હતું. જે લેપ્રોસ્કોપીથી દૂર કરવામાં આવ્યું. અને રેક્ટમ, અંડાશય, ગર્ભાશયને સ્ટેપ્લરથી ફરી જોડવામાં આવ્યું. આ પ્રકારનો કેસ ગુજરાતમાં પ્રથમ વખત લેપ્રોસ્કોપીથી કરવામાં આવ્યો.

બીજો કેસ ૨૩ વર્ષના યુવાનનો હતો જે સ્યુડોસીસ્ટના ક્રોનિક પેનક્રીયાસથી પીડાતો હતો. જેનું લેપ્રોસ્કોપીથી ઓપરેશન કરવામાં આવ્યું જેમાં સીસ્ટોજેજુનોસ્ટોમી કરવામાં આવી અને  પેનક્રીયાસના સીસ્ટને જોડવામાં આવ્યું. દર્દી છેલ્લા ત્રણ વર્ષથી આ રોગથી પીડાતો હતો અને કોઈ ડોક્ટર રક્તસ્ત્રાવના જોખમને કારણે સર્જરી કરવા તૈયાર ન્હોતો. આ લેપ્રોસ્કોપીથી વાપીની ટ્વેન્ટી ફર્સ્ટ સેન્ચ્યુરી હોસ્પિટલ્સ પ્રા. લિ.માં સફળતાપૂર્વક કરવામાં આવ્યું.

ડો. અક્ષયના પત્ની ડો. અદિતિ નાડકર્ણીએ મુંબઈથી ગાયનેકોલોજીસ્ટની ડિગ્રી મેળવી છે. તેમણે જર્મનીમાં લેપ્રોસ્કોપીક સર્જરીમાં ફેલોશીપ કર્યું છે અને ચેન્નાઈના ડો. એસ. સુરેશ પાસેથી ફેટલ મેડીશીન અને અલ્ટ્રાસાઉન્ડની ટ્રેનિંગ મેળવી છે. તેઓ ટ્વેન્ટી ફર્સ્ટ સેન્ચ્યુરી હોસ્પિટલ્સ પ્રા. લિ. ખાતે જોડાયા છે અને ડો. પૂર્ણિમા નાડકર્ણી સાથે આઈ.વી.એફ. સેન્ટર સ્થાપવા ઈચ્છા ધરાવે છે.

A major Laparoscopic and Cancer surgery Camp was organized at 21^st Century Hospitals Pvt. Ltd Vapi and Surat on 17^th and 18^th September at the Surat and Vapi branches. Dr Shailesh Puntambekar, a world renowned laparoscopic and cancer surgeon and a pioneer in robotic surgeries from Galaxy Care Hospitals Pune, was invited to operate and demonstrate difficult and major cancer and laparoscopic cases.

In all, 20 major cases were operated at the 2 hospitals, in 2 days, at subsidized rates. Cases like cancer of ovary and cervix, difficult hysterectomies (removal of diseased uterus), pseudocyst of pancreas, gall bladder diseases, difficult problems regarding infertility like endometriosis and fibroids along with major GI surgeries of stomach and esophagus, were performed successfully and laparoscopically.

To mention a few, one case was of carcinoma ovary in a 58 yrs old female, which was stage 3 with retroperitoneal metastasis, not responding to chemotherapy and the cancer involving the rectum also, which was removed completely laparoscopically, the rectum, ovary, uterus and omentum all together and later using staplers the rectum rejoined and closed. This case was one of its own kind in which, for the first time in Gujarat, a cancer of this kind was tackled laparoscopically.

Another case was a young case 23 years male suffering from chronic pancreatitis with pseudocyst, which was tackled laparoscopically, in which a cystojejunostomy was done ie the small intestines were laparoscopically joined to the cyst in the pancreas. This patient was suffering from the disease for last 3 years and at this young age, was denied surgery by many surgeons due to the risk of bleeding, but this was done safely at the 21^st Century Hospital, Vapi.

All surgeries were done laparoscopically and there was a variety of cases which Dr Puntambekar appreciated. Dr. Shailesh also appreciated the facilities of laparoscopic surgery and cancer at 21^st Century Hospiatals Pvt. Ltd, Vapi. He said he would be regularly giving his services at this small town in our 21^st Century Hospitals now on, atleast once a month. It was a treat to watch him operate at this small town of south Gujarat. There were facilities where in all doctors who wanted to watch the surgery live, were telecasted in the conference room on the 1^st floor of the hospital, and the relatives too were shown the surgeries live outside the operation theatre. Dr Puntambekar and Dr Akshay Nadkarni, together completed the major cancer surgeries in record time. The advantages of laparoscopy are shorter duration of surgery, better vision, ability to record the surgeries for future references and second opinion, better post operative recovery, lesser post operative pain and early return to normal activities.

Dr Shailesh Puntambekar, is an internationally acclaimed laparoscopic and cancer surgeon practising at Pune. He has operated in over 20 countries and is a faculty in almost all live workshops and conferences in India and abroad.

Dr Akshay Nadkarni, son of Dr. Kishore and Dr. Purnima Nadkarni (who run a successful IVF-ICSI program along with three multispeciality hospitals at Pardi,Vapi and Surat), is presently doing a fellowship with Dr. Puntambekar and is being trained in laparoscopic and cancer surgeries. Prior to this, he completed his MS in general surgery and DNB from Manipal University, Karnataka with a gold medal and award for Best Outgoing Student. He was also a university topper in his MBBS course. Dr Akshay then did a Fellowship from Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital, before joining Dr. Puntambekar for further training in laparoscopic and open cancer surgeries.

Dr Aditi Nadkarni, wife of Dr Akshay, is fully qualified and trained Gynecologist from Mumbai, having done a fellowship in laparoscopic surgery from Germany and Fellowship in Fetal Medicine and Ultrasound from Dr. S. Suresh from Chennai. She has already joined 21^st century hospital Vapi and plans to set up an IVF centre with Dr Purnima Nadkarni, at Vapi.

Dr. Akshay and Dr. Aditi, with the support and blessings of their parents, Dr. Kishore and Purnima Nadkarni, plan to settle down in Killa Pardi and Vapi to serve the people of rural south Gujarat. They plan to set up cancer and advanced laparoscopic services and a minimally invasive centre along with a world class IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization centre for infertile couples), at 21^st century hospitals Vapi very shortly. Also they are opening a 50 bedded multispeciality hospital with cancer and IVF centre along with 24 hrs services and trauma centre at Killa Pardi which they plan to open for a social cause for the rural people which will cater the poor and needy patients of South Gujarat. Also, the Nadkarni Family plans to start “Nadkarni’s Cancer Foundation”, at the Killa Pardi branch, that will be serving the poor and needy cancer patients, along with de-addiction and cancer screening programs in the villages of Valsad district, by 2012.

This is the story of an impossible case of Test tube baby made possible by third party reproduction.

 

The story is of a patient named Renu Saha( name changed ) who belongs to Rajasthan  age 27 married since 2 years. She presented with primary infertility.

 

On evaluation by Dr. Purnima Nadkarni she did not have external genitalia. Her laparoscopy showed absence of uterus, tubes and ovaries. Dr Purnima then ordered genetic analysis (karyotype) of the female. It was found that genetically the patient is a male 46 XY. It was deduced that since she did not have an ovary, neither uterus she could not conceive. She was advised to go for IVF with egg donation from a donor and the surrogacy. Dr. Purnima and Dr. Pooja did her IVF cycle at 21st Century Hospital & Tests Tube Baby Centre, Surat in October 2010. A young healthy egg donor, and a surrogate mother was also identified. And after all legal procedures, IVF was done using husband’s sperms and the egg donor’s eggs. 4 embryos were made and they were transferred in the uterus of the surrogate mother. The surrogate mother concieved with twins. On this Wednesday 29/06/2011 Dr. Pooja and Dr. Purnima plan to do a cesarian section of her. The surrogate mother is healthy and the twins are also growing well.

 

This story gives a lot of hope to those hopeless numerous couples who have been deprived the joy of motherhood by nature. It has been the endeavor of Dr. Purnima  and Dr. Pooja to give the best and the latest treatment available to see couples and see a smile on their face once they conceived. Dr. Purnima is a pioneer in the field of IVF with two centers. She has treated numerous couples of infertility. To her credit she has given around 1000 test tube babies in a carrier span of 25 years.

આ પહેલા પણ તેમને વલ્લભ આશ્રમ સ્કુલમાંથી ધોરણ ૧૨ની સી.બી.એસ.ઈ.ની પરીક્ષામાં ૯૪% મેળવવા બદલ અને બાયોલોજીના વિષયમાં સૌથી વધારે ગુણ મેળવવા બદલ ભારત સરકારના બાયોટેકનોલોજી વિભાગ, ન્યુ દિલ્હી તરફથી ગોલ્ડ મેડલ અને રૂ. ૧૫૦૦૦/-નો રોકડ પુરસ્કાર પ્રદાન કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. શાળાજીવન દરમ્યાન તેઓ બેડમિંગ્ટન અને વકતૃત્વ સ્પર્ધામાં પણ વિજેતા રહ્યા હતા. ૨૦૦૬ના વર્ષમાં તેમણે ફાઈનલ MBBSમાં ૭૦% મેળવીને સરદાર પટેલ યુનિવર્સીટી વલ્લભ વિદ્યાનગરમાં સર્વપ્રથમ ક્રમ મેળવ્યો હતો અને ગાયનેકોલોજીમાં સૌથી વધારે ગુણ મેળવવા બદલ ગોલ્ડ મેડલ પ્રાપ્ત કર્યો હતો. સપ્ટેમ્બર ૨૦૦૮માં  યોજાયેલ ઓલ ઈન્ડિયા કોલોરેક્ટલ સર્જન્સ નેશનલ કોન્ફરન્સમાં શ્રેષ્ઠ સંશોધનપત્ર રજૂ કરવા બદલ ગોલ્ડ મેડલ મળ્યો હતો. સંશોધનપત્રનો વિષય હતો “Prospective Study comparing the outcomes of the Newer Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy and old open technique”. જેમાં પાઈલ્સની સારવાર માટે ૨૦૦ કેસનો સમાવેશ કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. ગોવાના મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી દિગંબર કામથના હસ્તે ઓલ ઈન્ડિયા સર્જંન્સ એસોસિએશન (ASI) ની શાખા ઓલ ઈન્ડિયા કોલોરેક્ટલ સર્જંન્સ એસોસિએશનની રાષ્ટ્રીય કક્ષાની તા. ૨૩ થી ૨૭ સપ્ટેમ્બર ૨૦૦૯ દરમ્યાન ગોવામાં યોજાયેલી કોન્ફરન્સમાં આ ગોલ્ડ મેડલ તથા રૂ. ૫૦૦૦/-નો રોકડ પુરસ્કાર એનાયત કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. ડો. અક્ષય આ પુરસ્કાર મેળવનાર સૌથી યુવાન સર્જન હતા. ડો. અક્ષય હાલમાં ટાટા મેમોરિયલ કેન્સર હોસ્પિટલ મુંબઈમાં ટ્રેનીંગ મેળવી રહ્યા છે.

HONOUR FOR A YOUNG SURGEON!

Dr. Akshay Kishore Nadkarni of Killa Pardi was awarded a Gold medal for M.S. (General Surgery) University examination held in April 2010 at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. He also got the Best Outgoing Student award for the same in memory of Late Sri B. Putte Gowda of Chickmangalur.

Dr. Akshay already has a brilliant past history of winning many awards and laurels. He is currently working in Tata Memorial Cancer Institute, Mumbai. His main fields of interests are mainly in onco-surgery and laparoscopic onco-surgeries.

Earlier in 2001, he had stood 1^st from Vallabh Ashram School in class 12^th CBSE with 94% marks and received a Gold Medal and 15000/- from Biotechnology department, Government of India, New Delhi for securing maximum marks in biology in India. In school, he also excelled in the field of badminton, debates and elocutions. In 2006, he  was a university topper in Final MBBS with 70% marks at Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar and had received a Gold Medal for highest aggregate overall and in the field of gynecology. In September 2009 he was awarded Gold Medal for the best research paper presented by him at All India Colorectal Surgeons Association-a Branch of All India Surgeons Association (ASI). The paper was titled “Prospective Study comparing the outcomes of the Newer Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy and old open technique”, for the treatment of piles – a study of 200 cases. The chief minister of Goa, Mr Digambar Kamath presented him this award.

Dr Akshay is the son of Dr Purnima and Dr Kishore Nadkarni, of Killa Pardi, who are successfully running three multispeciality hospitals under the banner of 21^st Century Group of Hospitals Pvt Ltd at Pardi, Vapi and Surat since last 21 years. His wife Dr. Aditi Nadkarni is a Gynaecologist and has done her training in ultra sonography from Dr. S Suresh,  Chennai and Laparoscopy from Germany. Dr Akshay is interested in the field of surgical oncology and wants to extend modern oncology services to the rural population of South Gujarat and plans to join 21^st Century Hospital at Vapi and Killa Pardi from 2012. Dr Akshay is, infact, the pride of Killa Pardi, having come from a taluka place, to now achieve this great honour.

ડો. પૂર્ણિમા નાડકર્ણીને તા. ૮/૧/૨૦૧૧ના રોજ ફેલો ઈન ઈન્ડિયન કોલેજ ઓફ ઓબ્સ્ટ્રેટ્રીશીયન અને ગાયનેકોલોજીસ્ટની ઉપાધિથી હાઈટેક સીટી હૈદરાબાદમાં યોજાયેલા એક ભવ્ય સમારંભમાં નવાજવામાં આવ્યા. તેઓ એવા ૨૫ ફેલોમાંથી એક હતા જેમને ભારતના ૨૬૦૦૦ ગાયનેકોલોજીસ્ટમાંથી પસંદ કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા. જે સાચે જ ગૌરવની વાત છે.

ડો. પૂર્ણિમા નામાંકિત સ્ત્રીરોગ નિષ્ણાત અને વંધ્યત્વ નિવારણના તજજ્ઞ છે. તેઓ કિલ્લા પારડી નાડકર્ણી હોસ્પિટલ અને ટેસ્ટ ટ્યુબ બેબી સેંટરમાં ૩૦ વર્ષથી, વાપી ટ્વેંટી ફર્સ્ટ સેંચ્યુરી હોસ્પિટલ્સ પ્રા. લિ.માં ૧૧ વર્ષથી અને સુરત ટ્વેંટી ફર્સ્ટ સેંચ્યુરી હોસ્પિટલ અને ટેસ્ટ ટ્યુબ બેબી સેંટરમાં છેલ્લા ૪ વર્ષથી પ્રેક્ટિસ કરે છે. ૨૫૦૦થી વધારે આઈ.વી.એફ બેબીનું શ્રેય એમના ફાળે જાય છે. નિસંતાન દંપતિઓને બાળક આપી એમનું જીવન હર્યુંભર્યું કરવાનું એમને જનૂન છે. તેમણે ૧૫૦થી વધારે મેનોપોઝલ મહિલાઓને એગ ડોનેશનથી પ્રેગ્નન્સી અને ૨૦ સરોગેટ પ્રેગ્નન્સી આપી છે. હાલમાં જ રાજકોટ નિવાસી ૪૮ વર્ષની મહિલાએ જોડિયા બાળકોને જન્મ આપ્યો જે તેની જ્ન્મથી ગર્ભાશય ન હતું એવી દીકરી માટે સરોગેટ માતા બની હતી. આ અનોખા કિસ્સાએ ડો. પૂર્ણિમાનું નામ દુનિયામાં જાણીતું કર્યું. ડો. પૂર્ણિમા એક શ્રેષ્ઠ ડોક્ટર હોવાની સાથે સાથે શ્રેષ્ઠ પત્ની, માતા અને સમાજસેવક પણ છે. દક્ષિણ ગુજરાતમાં તેમણે બેટી બચાવો અભિયાનમાં મહત્વપૂર્ણ કામગીરી બજાવી છે.

Killa Pardi doctor honored with FICOG degree by The Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI)

Dr. Purnima Nadkarni was honored on 08/01/2011 as Fellow in Indian College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (FICOG) in scintillating program in hitec city of Hyderabad. She was one of 25 fellows who were selected from 26000 practicing Gynaecologist of India which is a great honor.

Dr. Purnima is a leading Gynaecologist & Obstetrician and Infertility specialist practicing in Killa Pardi Nadkarni Hospital since 30 years, in Vapi 21^st Century Hospitals Pvt. Ltd since 11 years and in Surat 21^st Century Hospital & Test Tube Baby Centre since last 4 years. More than 2500 IVF babies go to her credit. “Making babies” is her passion who has given children to more than 150 menopausal women by Egg Donation and more than 20 surrogate pregnancy. Recently a woman of 48 years from Rajkot delivered twin boys as a surrogate to her daughter borne without uterus made Dr. Purnima world famous. Dr. Purnima is a good mother and a social worker too.
